DIY Air Freshener

Materials

  • ½ tablespoon baking soda
  • 4 tablespoons fabric softener
  • 2 cups lukewarm water
  • 16 ounce glass spray bottle

Instructions

  • Begin by taking your empty spray bottle and adding the softener. I used a funnel to ensure I got it all into the jar.
  • Next, add the baking soda. I used the funnel again, but made sure to dry it off from step one when I added the softener to prevent the baking soda from sticking to the funnel when I poured it in.
  • The final step is adding the water. I add lukewarm water to ensure the baking soda dissolves.
  • After you seal the bottle up, shake it well to combine the ingredients.

  1. Choose Your Scent: Experiment with different fabric softener scents to create a personalized air freshener that matches your preferences. Whether it's lavender, citrus, or fresh linen, the choice is yours!
  2. Mixing Technique: To ensure thorough mixing and avoid clumping, add the ingredients in the specified order. The fabric softener provides the fragrance, the baking soda helps neutralize odors, and lukewarm water aids in dissolving the baking soda.
  3. Shake Well: After sealing the bottle, shake it vigorously to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed. This step is crucial for activating the air freshener's effectiveness before each use.
